St. Nicholas Church
As part of our community service project, we also participated in the St. Nicholas Church Spring 2010 Clean-ups. The event was co-sponsored by the Mayor of Baltimore, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, and Greektown CDC.
Additionally, members of the HSA volunteered at the St. Nicholas Annual Greek Festival, held in June 2011.
Patapsco Park
The Hellenic Students Association was an official sponsor for the 2010-2011 President’s Day of Service, which took place on October 2nd, 2010. Our team went to the playground in Patapsco Park, where we were responsible for creating a safer park environment by adding mulch to the playground.
Hellenism in the Public Service
In August 2011, HSA President George Petrocheilos met with Andreas Akaras, Avisor to Congressman John Sarbanes. Mr. Akaras introduced us to the 'Hellenism in the Public Service' Initiative that Rep. Sarbanes is leading. This initiative is embodied in the many diverse ways that Greek-Americans are giving back to the broader society. Our Association became part of the Initiative.
